Where to Retire Magazine Review

Where to Retire magazine says that it is the only magazine in America designed to help you find the ideal place to retire. It features the most idyllic retirement towns, undiscovered havens and tax heavens. It also says that it reveals the best retirement developments of the 21st century.

Where To Retire magazine is published six times a year. A one-year subscription costs $18. There is a 49% savings off cover price if you subscribe for two years or 12 issues for $30; or three years (18 issues) for $40 which represents a savings of 55% off cover price. A sampling of the magazine's back issues showed that in January/February of 2011, it featured Ormond beach, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; St. George, Utah; Columbia, Missouri; Brunswick Forest Leland North Carolina; low tax towns and places that offer outstanding healthcare. The March/April issue of Where to Retire magazine featured Greater Sarasota Florida; Eastern Shore, Maryland; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Green Valley region, Arizona; Cascades at World Golf Village-St. Augustine, Florida; energizing outdoor havens and the new dream home.

The magazine also publishes two important annual reports. The first is titled America's Best Low-Tax Retirement Towns and the second is America's 100 Best Places To Retire. The best low-tax retirement towns report costs $18.95 the 100 Best Places to Retire report. In addition, it offers what it calls its Choose guides which includes Choose Mexico (Live Well on $600 a month), Choose Costa Rica, and Choose The Pacific Northwest. These reports vary in price from $14.95 to $16.95.

One of the best things about Where to Retire magazine is the fact that it makes its back issues available and that you can see what each one covers. For example, if you were interested in the Green valley region of Arizona, you could order the magazines March-April issue, 2011. Plus, it has a section titled Free Retirement Relocation Brochures that includes information you can order from the top retirement states, towns, developments and more. This is handy in that you could check off the half dozen or more areas that interest you, fill out your name, address and e-mail address, and the brochures would be automatically sent to you. If you do this within the next several days, you will most likely get Where to Retire's September/October 2011 issue which includes profiles of the nation's oldest city, St. Augustine Florida, along with Door County Wisconsin, Williamsburg, Virginia; and the state of Washington's With the Island. This issue also includes information about towns that cater to your creative whims if your dream is to pursue your artistic passions and has information on the best neighborhoods.

The magazine offers a free issue that you can get by filling out a short form. This gives you the opportunity to preview the magazine at no cost before you plunk down $18 for a one-year subscription.

Where to Retire's website also has links to other sites of interest. This includes sites where you could save up to 75% on last-minute cruises, save big on hotels and all exclusive reports, say 40% on escorted tours and independent tour packages and more.

If your interest is to retire to another city or town in the US, then Where To Retire magazine could be a very good $18 investment. However, as you might guess, it's probably best to start subscribing to the magazine a year or so before you retire so that you can get information on a number of different places to retire before you make a final decision.
