If you think that living the life along the equator is enticing, then you may want to consider Ecuador as your choice for retirement. Despite being one of the smallest countries in South America, it boasts of a rich culture, interesting historical cities, ancient ruins, rainforests and miles of beaches.

About the Republic of Ecuador
The Republic of Ecuador have four distinct regions. It is known as the land of contrasts because of the varied landscapes of these regions.

The first is the Amazon Rainforest that can be found on the innermost region. Despite being associated with Brazil, this rainforest is actually so big that it spills over a lot of countries. It occupies nearly half of the Ecuador territory. Climate in the rainforest is tropical at best.

The second region is the Andean Highlands, which incidentally is part of the longest mountain range on earth. The part running along Ecuador is considered as having one of the most concentrated volcanoes. With over 30 peaks, this place is known as the Avenue of Volcanoes. Cotopaxi in particular is the world’s highest volcano that remains active until today. Because of the high altitude, climate in this area is chilly with snow capped mountaintops.

The third region is right along the Pacific Ocean – the Coastal Lowlands. This is where you find the miles of beaches and a rich marine wildlife. Climate in this area of the country is tropical thanks to the proximity of the Pacific.

Lastly, you have the Galapagos Islands that is found on the western side of the country. It is remote and somewhat isolated from the mainland but it still gets so much attention from visitors. It is a group of 19 islands, 13 of which are considered main islands and 6 as smaller isles. These islands are known for the unique wildlife thriving in it. This is believed to be the place of inspiration for the Theory of Natural Selection by Charles Darwin. The climate along these cluster of islands are mostly warm, sunny with rain showers.

Life of Ecuadorians
Living in Ecuador exposes you to a lot of possibilities of exploration. While the above mentioned regions are worth visiting, most foreigners are intrigued with the ancient ruins of the Incas. Cuenca, is listed among the list of UNESCO World Heritage for having a significant number of historical buildings.

Choosing a region to live in will depend on what you are most passionate about. If you like the cold, historical and cultural places, you may want to reside along the Andean Highlands. Quito, Cuenca, Baños and Ambato are only a few of the cities where you can experience the heart and soul of the country. If you wish for the tropical life, you need to head out to either the Coastal Lowlands or the Galapagos Islands. For the more adventurous and nature thrill seekers, exploring the Amazon may be an appealing activity so you need to choose among the inner cities of Ecuador.

The language in this country is mostly Spanish although places where tourists frequent have some English speakers within them. If you wish to live here, especially in one of the rural places, you have to learn the language. Ecuadorians are generally friendly and warm towards foreigners so they are tolerant of any broken Spanish – as long as you are trying.

The cuisine varies depending on where you are staying. The highlands prefer potatoes while the coastal areas love to eat rice. Soup is almost always a staple at lunch and dinner. People on a budget would do well to order breakfast as it is one of the cheapest meal in Ecuador.

Cost of Living
The cost of living in Ecuador is very cheap. In fact, you can live for less than $700 a month quite comfortably. Although some of the foreigners living there say that prices have gone up, it is still relatively cheaper compared to the United States.

Here are the common expenses that one will need to live comfortably. The prices are taken from the Numbeo website who collate price information from various individuals.

Food: Inexpensive restaurant ($3/meal), Fastfood ($5/meal), Beer ($1/0.5 liter), Soda ($0.75/0.33 liter), Water ($0.45/0.33 liter), Milk ($17/liter), Rice ($0.61/kg), Bread ($1.25/loaf), Chicken ($5/kg), Fruits (ave $1.6/kg), Egg ($1.85/dozen), Vegetables (ave $1/kg), Wine ($10/mid range)

Transportation: Local transport ($0.25/one-way, $16monthly pass), Taxi ($1/start, $1/km), Gasoline ($0.39/liter)

The country of Mexico is well known for the ancient cultures that thrived there in the past. You have the Mayans, Aztecs and the Toltecs as the most popular. But beyond the possible cultural exposure, this country boasts of modernism, natural beauty and for most who doesn’t know, chocolate. Southern Mexico is where a lot of cocoa trees grow. That should be a great combination for those who want to retire here.

About the United Mexican States
Mexico is one of the largest countries in the Americas. With a population of 113 million, it is also one of the most populous. The country is bordered by the United States to the north, the Pacific Ocean on the southwestern side, Gulf of Mexico to the east and Caribbean Sea, Belize and Guatemala to the southeast.

Its landscape consists of low coastal plains, grasslands, high and rugged mountains, deserts, tropical rainforests and miles of coastlines facing either the Pacific Ocean, Caribbean Seas or the Gulf of Mexico. The later makes it a very popular destination by people from all over the world. In fact, it is known to be among the top tourist countries in the world. Despite the drug wars that unfortunately it is also famous for, there are safe cities where retired individuals can live in peace and security.

Mexico is emerging with a powerful economy and that brings in a lot of innovative and modern developments – especially in the big cities. It also allows them to preserve the ancient ruins that is also a major pull for tourists and retired individual alike.

Given the size of the country, climate varies depending on where you are. The Baja peninsula, especially those along the Pacific coastline enjoys a Mediterranean climate. The other side of that peninsula is more arid. It becomes more subtropical as you go further south. Cabo and La Paz has a desert climate. The northern part of the country is quite mountainous thus making it more chilly than its southern region. The lowlands have an arid feel to it. In general, the country is quite tropical compared to the United States.

The Mexican Way of Life
Regardless of what you may hear about the drug turmoil, Mexicans are very warm, friendly and gracious. They are very relaxed especially with time. In fact, the locals think that being late is a natural thing to do.

This country is considered to be very rich in culture. The people enjoy a lot of traditions and have very close family ties. In fact, some say that to known a Mexican, you need to get to know their family. The same is true in business. Negotiations can take long because they would want to get to know you first.

Language in Mexico is mostly Spanish. There are English speaking locals when you are in tourist destinations but when you are not, you need to learn how to speak the language.

When you are in Mexico, you have a lot of options to pass the time. You have the ancient ruins to explore, rainforests and mountains to hike, beaches to relax in and other historical places to visit.

Probably a great adventure that awaits you in Mexico is their cuisine. They have regional specific food choices. For instance, the northern region prefers beef and goat while the coastal towns like seafood best. Central Mexico is quite neutral but their dishes are corn-based. Southeastern cuisine contains more spicy vegetables and chicken dishes. One thing that binds them all is that most of the dishes are quite spicy.

Cost of Living
Mexico is a very cheap place to live in – although it is not the cheapest among your other Native American options. You will find that it costs a lot less to live here than in your home town.

Based on the Numbeo website, these are the common expenses that you will encounter in Mexico.

Food: Inexpensive restaurant ($4.92/meal), Fastfood ($5.33/meal), Beer ($1.64/0.5 liter), Soda ($0.74/0.33 liter), Water ($0.66/0.33 liter), Milk ($1.07/liter), Rice ($1.23/kg), Bread ($1.8/loaf), Chicken ($5.74/kg), Fruits (ave $1.75/kg), Egg ($1.8/dozen), Vegetables (ave $1.1/kg), Wine ($9.84/mid range)

Transportation: Local transport ($0.49/one-way, $29.12/monthly pass), Taxi ($2.05/start, $0.45/km), Gasoline ($0.83/liter)

Home: Utilities ($77.93), Internet ($32.81/Unlimited Data, 6Mbps), Rent City Centre ($287.10/mo/1bd, $574.21/mo/3bd), Rent Outside of Centre ($217.38/mo/1bd, $492.18/mo/3bd)

Sports and Leisure: Fitness Club ($41.01/month), Cinema ($4.92/seat)

Clothing: Jeans (ave $53.24/pair), Dress (ave $49.22/pc), Shoes (ave $65.62/leather, $98.44/rubber shoes)

The cost of living varies depending on where you are in the country. In the more rural areas, prices may be a lot cheaper. You need to know where to look for the best value for your money.

The post Mexico: Staying in the Cultural Center of Native America first appeared on 2026 Best Places To Retire.

Calling Panama the Crossroads of the Americas is quite literal. The country does look like a land bridge that connects the North Americas to the South. It is a popular retirement place for Americans because it is so near from home and it is mostly surrounded by water. The country is stable, uses the American dollar as its paper currency, and is a lot cheaper to reside in.

About the Republic of Panama
Panama is seemingly a thin country when you see it on the map but it boasts of a rich culture and a fast developing economy. On both sides lie the North Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Its neighboring country is Colombia in South America and Costa Rica to the North.

What makes this country famous is the Panama Canal – a man made waterway that allowed marine vessels to cut across the country from the Caribbean Sea (North Atlantic Ocean) to the Pacific Ocean and back. It was first made by the French but was taken over by the Americans. It was only fully turned over to the Panama government in 1999. It makes up for a significant percent in the nation’s revenues.

The landscape in this country varies. Going inland, you will notice a lot of rugged mountains that are usually more steep than sloping. There are also upland plains in between these mountains. The country is quite thin in shape that when you climb the peak of its highest point (3,475m), which is on Volcan Barú, you can view both oceans on either side.

The coastal areas of Panama is over 2,800 kilometers long when you combine both sides. Apart from the beaches, they also have rolling hills and plains along the coastline.

Being so close to the equator, the country is quite warm. In the summer, it is hot and humid and the rainy season acts as its winter season. There are places in Panama that can get chilly at night and these include Cerro Punta, El Valle and Boquete. They have occasional storms that can be quite severe and also forest fires due to the heat. However, unlike the other Central American nations, their geographic location keep hurricanes away.

Lifestyle of the Panamenos
Life in Panama is great for a retired individual because it is one of the most modern countries compared to the other Central American nations. They also have more than enough share of eco-related activities with their beaches, forests and mountains.

With a population of more than 3.4 million, it is a relatively small country that tourists can enjoy in as short as 1 week. However, a lot of them decided to stay because of the cheap cost of living – something that will be discussed in detail later on in this article.

The country, overall, is quite laid back. It is one of the reasons why there are a lot of expats living here. They are used to living with Americans – who had been taking charge of the Canal operations until late. You just have to constantly monitor their immigration rules because it is constantly changing.

The Panamenos or Panamenas speak Spanish but being a popular tourist destination, a lot of them speak English as well.

Their native cuisine is mostly beef and seafood – thanks to the abundance of access to the ocean and cattles farms. Most meals are served with rice and native vegetables like squash. In bigger cities, you can expect a more varied selection of International cuisines.

Cost of Living
Compared to the US or Europe, cost of living in Panama is very cheap. Despite the economic development and modernization, they have remained cost friendly to foreigners.

Here are the most basic costs that you will encounter in Panama, as taken from the Numbeo website.

Food: Inexpensive restaurant ($5/meal), Fastfood ($4.74/meal), Beer ($1/0.5 liter), Soda ($1/0.33 liter), Water ($1/0.33 liter), Milk ($1.13/liter), Rice ($2.65/kg), Bread ($1.4/loaf), Chicken ($5.78/kg), Fruits (ave $2/kg), Egg ($1.95/dozen), Vegetables (ave $1.5/kg), Wine ($6/mid range)

Transportation: Local transport ($0.35/one-way, $18/monthly pass), Taxi ($1.25/start, $1/km), Gasoline ($1.04/liter)

Home: Utilities ($75), Internet ($37.50/Unlimited Data, 6Mbps), Rent City Centre ($750/mo/1bd, $1,750/mo/3bd), Rent Outside of Centre ($450/mo/1bd, $700/mo/3bd)

Sports and Leisure: Fitness Club ($41/month), Cinema ($3.75/seat)

Clothing: Jeans (ave $48.5/pair), Dress (ave $25/pc), Shoes (ave $52.5/leather, $60/rubber shoes)

In most cases, you can live on $1,200 a month in Panama. Of course, the metropolitan areas are more expensive than the smaller towns. This country still remains to be a popular destination for retiring Americans for its proximity to the US and its rich natural resources. The fact that it is cheap is only a big bonus in the package.

The post Panama: Abide in the Crossroads of the Americas first appeared on 2026 Best Places To Retire.

A few decades ago, you wouldn’t see Croatia as one of the most sought after places to retire into. However, thanks to their efforts to highlight the rich history of the Mediterraneans, they have come into the spotlight as one of the best places to retire.

The country is a unitary democratic parliamentary republic – having once been under communist rule. In the 1990s, they adapted the the multi party election – a transition that was filled with a lot of turmoil. Now, the citizens enjoy peace and prosperity as Croatia emerges as an option for those who want to relive the old Mediterranean lifestyle.

About the Republic of Croatia
Croatia can be located just below Hungary and right across the Adriatic Sea from Italy. It is in the center and south eastern part of Europe. The whole territory of the country is more than 56,500 square kilometers.

The landscape of Croatia is a mixture of mountains (Dinaric Alps), shorelines (facing the Adriatic Sea), islands and islets (scattered in the Adriatic Sea), flat plains (Slavonia), forested highlands and hilly regions (Hrvatsko Zagorje). Rivers run across the country – some of the major ones are called Danube (second longest river in Europe), Drava, Sava and Kupa. The Dinaric Alps are prominently of Karst topography – similar to what half of the country is made of. A lot deep caves can be found all over the Croatian territory.

One of the falls in the Plitvice lakes

The country is rich in oil, iron ore, gypsum, silica, coal, salt, bauxite and clays – most of which provide the national economy with export income. Of late, tourism became a serious contributor in their economy, having highlighted historical architecture of the old Mediterranean. They also have several natural reserves, parks and the famous Plitvice lakes that is a collection of lakes, waterfall and limestone and dolomite cascades.

Croatia enjoys a warm and rainy climate. There are regions where snow happens – specially in the forests of Gorski Kotar and Lika. But along the Adriatic coastline, locals enjoy the typical Mediterranean climate. The sunniest weathers are experienced on the outermost islands on the Adriatic Sea.

The Croatian Way of Life
Croatia is home to 4.9 million permanent residents. Given the tumultuous war for independence, a lot of Croatians were displaced and forced to flee the country to get out of the line of fire. However, with the peace ensuring a healthier life, a lot of them came back – though not the majority. This population bloats especially in the summer time as 10 million tourists come from other nations to enjoy the sights and sounds in the country.

Retiring in Croatia will give you a taste of the Mediterranean life as it was in the past. They pride in preserving the walls of the medieval cities along the coast of the Adriatic Sea. While this particular aspect of the country is famous, they are also known for the beauty of their natural resources. The Plitvice lakes, city of Zagreb, and the Blue Flag beaches make for very beautiful sights for foreigners. There are theaters, galleries, museums, port towns and even an old Roman amphitheatre in Pula. The churches and palaces of old make for a rich historical experience that retired individuals can relive over and over if they decide to live here.

The language in the country is mostly Croatian. However, English is well spoken in tourism centered locations.

The food is different and will depend on where you are in the country. Croatia is a healthy mixture of 4 cultures: West Roman Empire, Mitteleuropa, Byzantine Empire and Mediterranean. In Dalmatia, you will enjoy mostly Mediterranean and Italian cuisine that is mostly seafood, pasta and vegetables. Further inland is mostly freshwater fish, meat and vegetables, as influenced by Turkish, Austrian and Hungarian cuisine. Wine is usually a staple in meals: white for the inlands and red for the coastlines. Beer had also been a preferred beverage of late.

Cost of Living
Cost of living in Croatia is cheap compared to Italy or France. It is similar to Spain – which is quite low for among European nations. However, as tourism gets higher, the costs start to climb with it.

Based on the Numbeo website, here is a compilation of the basic prices that can be expected in Croatia.

Food: Inexpensive restaurant ($8.57/meal), Fastfood ($6/meal), Beer ($2.4/0.5 liter), Soda ($2.06/0.33 liter), Water ($1.57/0.33 liter), Milk ($1.03/liter), Rice ($1.97/kg), Bread ($1.03/loaf), Chicken ($8.57/kg), Fruits (ave $1.6/kg), Egg ($2.55/dozen), Vegetables (ave $1.25/kg), Wine ($6.53/mid range)

Transportation: Local transport ($1.96/one-way, $54.86/monthly pass), Taxi ($2.61/start, $0.86/km), Gasoline ($1.85/liter)

Home: Utilities ($204.93), Internet ($25.72/Unlimited Data, 6Mbps), Rent City Centre ($377.16/mo/1bd, $600.03/mo/3bd), Rent Outside of Centre ($267.66/mo/1bd, $462.88/mo/3bd)

Sports and Leisure: Fitness Club ($42.86/month), Cinema ($5.66/seat)

Clothing: Jeans (ave $85.72/pair), Dress (ave $42.86/pc), Shoes (ave $85.72/leather, $94.29/rubber shoes)

Croatian prices are still relatively high compared to other destinations in the world. But if compared within European nations, they remain to be quite modest. It is important to make a more detailed research of prices depending on where you plan to live in this country.

The post Croatia: Dwelling In The Old Mediterranean Life first appeared on 2026 Best Places To Retire.

The land of overflowing wine, heaps of pasta and stacks of pizza. This is probably what endears Italy to most individuals but there is much more to the place than just food. The country has a rich culture, beautiful cities, wonderful history, friendly folks, awe inspiring art and breathtaking architecture. What used to be the center of a great empire, Italy stands as a testament to the shaping of our modern world today.

About the Italian Peninsula
Italy is a peninsula that is located on the Southern part of Europe. Apart from the peninsula, there are also islands within its territory. Two of the largest are Sardinia and Sicily.

The territory of this country is 301,230 square kilometer – 2.3% of which is water. Apart from the 7,600km of coastline along the Adriatic, Tyrrhenian and Ionian seas, there are rivers and channels weaving itself within major cities like Venice. There is also a part of Italy that is mountainous. The Alps can be found along the northern boundary and the Apennine Mountains that stretch along the center of the peninsula.

The country has a lot of volcanoes, 4 of which are active, and there is a considerable amount of activity – both volcanic and seismic. In fact, some of the islands surrounding the peninsula is known to have emerged after volcanic activities.

Because of the quick industrial growth that the country went through, several environmental problems emerged. There have been several improvement already and they include parks and the production of renewable energy – specifically solar and wind generated energy. While all of these efforts had been made, air pollution is still a problem up in the northern area. The traffic and congestion in the metros contributed to this. With more than 60M residents and the 43M tourists that come every year, Italy remains to be one of the highest in terms of population density.

The weather in Italy is quite diverse – thanks to the position of its peninsula. The northern and central areas, the climate is a mixture of oceanic, humid subtropical and humid continental. That means they have extreme weather conditions during the winter and summer seasons. The coastal areas are commonly Mediterranean, with mild winters and dry summers.

The Italian Way of Life

Leaning Tower of Pisa

There is much to be said about the way of living in Italy. The country is poses as an important center for a lot of art forms. Milan is known for being the fashion capital, jewelry is prominent in Valenza and Vicenza, glassware can be found in Venice, Florence is visited for its art and Rome is sought after for loads of books. The presence of the Vatican makes it a very important religious center compared to the other countries in Europe.

They have diverse ethnic cultures that can be traced to the specific region where it originated. Being in the center of the Roman empire, people from all over the world are fascinated by the history and culture that is represented in its very walls. One thing’s for certain, any of the cities (great and small) have something that will attract tourism to it. They have over 100,000 historical monuments that are worth visiting so retiring here will provide anyone with a lot of things to do. Museums, ruins, islands and practically every area in the country will provide you with fascinating discoveries about the past. You will also like the vineyards, natural tours and beaches in this place.

The language is mainly Italian but you will find locals speaking the English language. Of course, they are concentrated in areas where tourism is at its strongest. The more rural areas may be more difficult for non-Italian speaking folks.

The food in Italy is somewhat different from what is known in America. Apart from the pasta and pizza, roast meat is preferred in Central Italy and the Southern portions have a lot of vegetables and seafood. They have a variety of bread in their meal and wine is a staple drink.

Cost of Living
Italy is one of the European countries that has a high cost of living. You may find that it can be more expensive than most tourist destinations in Europe. However, there are parts that are more affordable than others.

The Numbeo website holds the basic information about the various expenses in Italy. It should give you an idea as to how much is needed to live in retirement in this place.

Food: Inexpensive restaurant (€15/meal), Fastfood (€7/meal), Beer (€4/0.5 liter), Soda (€2/0.33 liter), Water (€1/0.33 liter), Milk (€1.3/liter), Rice (€2/kg), Bread (€1.5/loaf), Chicken (€8/kg), Fruits (ave €1.85/kg), Egg (€2.28/dozen), Vegetables (ave €1/kg), Wine (€5/mid range)

France had always, and probably always will be one of the most popular destinations by people from all over the world. The whole country, especially its capital, Paris, is synonymous to love, romance and passion. Who wouldn’t want to live here?

All About The Kingdom Of Francia
Located in the western part of Europe, France is oftentimes referred to as the “Hexagon” due to the shape created by its borders. The landscape is a mixture of rolling hills, mountainous regions, valleys, and beaches. All of these are spread out over the 674,000 square kilometers of land and seas that is within the French jurisdiction. The country has an extensive river system that weaves its way throughout the metropolitan and countryside.

As of 2012, France is home to more than 65 million permanent residents. This grows consistently as tourists go in and out of the French territories.

The weather in France is temperate at best. The landscape is so varied that the climate varies depending on where you are. For instance, the French Alps enjoy a mountainous climate of below freezing and snow for as long as six months. The inland has a continental climate wherein summers are hot and stormy, the winters are colder and there is lesser rain. The west, being near great bodies of water experience high levels of rain, warm summers and mild winters.

Life of the French
France is praised for having one of the best health care provider. Residents has the highest life expectancies compared to other nations. Despite being a well developed country, it has campaigned to be environment friendly. In fact, it is only of the first nations to come up with a governing body that focuses on keeping their environment well protected.

It is also the second largest economy in Europe, thanks to its popularity as a tourist destination. The average of 79.5 million visitors gives so much income into its local economy – so much so that it is considered to be the richest nation in all of Europe.

The French enjoy high standards of living and great public education. They are known for their rich cultural and historical treasures that are housed in their museums and even the very architecture of surviving castles and grand estates.

Tourism is not contained in the metro as the countryside is a popular destination for the natural beauty that had been preserved throughout the years. The French Riviera, beaches along the Atlantic and the winter sports resorts on the French Alps are all tourist attractions.

While tourism is a great source of income here, the English language is not always used. Even though it is taught in schools, the French are oftentimes hesitant to use it and will prefer to speak to tourists in their native tongue. That being said, learning the basic language is necessary for those who wish to retire in this country.

Cost of Living
Despite the fact that France is one of the most expensive countries to live in, the countryside can still provide affordable real estate properties. It is probably preferred by retirees because of the peace and tranquility that the surroundings bring.

To give you an idea of the cost of living, here are some of the basic prices that you will encounter as stated on the Numbeo site. These are all estimates and covers only the basic of expenses.

Food: Inexpensive restaurant (€12/meal), Fastfood (€7/meal), Beer (€5/0.5 liter), Soda (€2.50/0.33 liter), Water (€1.50/0.33 liter), Milk (€1/liter), Rice (€2/kg), Chicken (€9/kg), Fruits (ave €2.25/kg), Egg (€2.73/dozen), Vegetables (ave €1.25/kg),

Transportation: Local transport (€1.5/one-way, €48/monthly pass), Taxi (€2.3/start, €0.84/km), Gasoline (€1.5/liter)

More and more people would like to lead a simplified life after their big bosses approved their retirement paper. After claiming their back pays, thoughts of getting a new life and literally moving on with their lives are lurking in their heads. A peaceful and close to nature life is a top choice for retirees. Perhaps, a mental picture of an old house in a country village and horseback riding by the shore is a stereotype portrait for you. A quaint choice can lead a profound living in one of the autonomous regions in Italy. A simple life is amplified in Sicily, which is the largest of all islands in the Mediterranean Sea and once regarded as city-state. It covers a land area about 25,708 square kilometers. Sicilians are bi-lingual so they speak both Italian and Sicilian.

If you plan to move into the best cities to retire, the cities of Palermo, Catania, Messina, and Syracuse, are the places to be. They are quite busy and moderately crowded places. However, if you want to spare yourself and your family from the honking horns and busy streets, you can head to Gela, Ragusa, Trapani, Vittoria, and Caltanissetta.

After you have found a nestling place, the next best thing to do is to find out what hearty meals can be served on the dining table every day. Interestingly, Sicily can provide you with a healthy carb diet. Since, it is blessed with an agricultural soil; it would not run short with supplies of some barley, corn, wheat, olives, wine grapes, citrus fruits, almonds, cottons. There are cardio-friendly catch, which include fish and tuna. Sicilians also raise cattle, including donkeys and sheep.

Choosing to live a life in Sicily would not make you feel nostalgic as some of its culture may not be too different from yours. This might ring true for most people. An instance would be the value that a Sicilian family gives off in order to preserve a closed-knit family relationship. There are even so many ways from which you can identify yourself, which is through the festivals they held all year long, which include presepe vivente (or the animated crib) and feast days.

If you want to take some time off, you can go places. Sicily is surrounded by islands – Aeolian Islands of Messina, isle of Ustica (in Palermo), Aegadian Islands (in Trapani), isle of Pantelleria (also in Trapani), and Pelagian Islands (in Agrigento). People are known to be laid back and accommodating to foreign visitors and settlers, though, they cannot communicate well in English.

The baby blue skies and dry climate lets you enjoy your leisure time. Take a tour in Mount Etna, the pristine beaches, and the archeological sites. If you want to indulge in a physical activity, Sicilians love to play football and basketball. Once you get into this island, you will gain good company with the Sicilians in no time.

So if you are ready for a whole new world, why not take an one hundred-eighty-degree turn around, you might find yourself facing an unfamiliar yet magnificent simplified life.

The post Sicily Italy Best Countries To Live And Retire first appeared on 2026 Best Places To Retire.

Old enough that you are already qualified for retirement? Do not be sad or be frustrated because there are lots of amazing countries out there that are just waiting for you and ready to make your lip lines curve, making a symbol of felicitousness, by the time you decided to retire. Want to know the best retirement places? Well, I could only give you one, and that is Ecuador. Prepare to discover and unleashed dozens of wondrous secrets in that small country that would all surprise you up.

No more places on earth where you could find so much noticeable heterogeneity in a tiny place. Due to the fact that Ecuador is one of the smallest countries in South America, still, they can manage to offer astounding hospitability, foods, places, etc. Hand-woven wool sweater is one of their well-known products that you will encounter in their indigenous markets in Otavala. While the remarkable cities such as Quito, Cuenca, Banos, Salinas, and Ibarra are some of Ecuador’s trademarks that promise fabulous sightseeing, outrageous outdoor activities, and hotels that will make you feel at home.

Nature lovers would indisputably appreciate Ecuador for it has the tonic Amazon jungles of the Oriente where you could find species like sidesplitter monkeys; the breathless sights and experience in the glaciated Andean volcanoes; and of course, Ecuador will not be complete without the fantastic foreign unusual species that live in Andean grasslands which include attractive orchids, strikingly unconventional jungle plants, and unique insects.

Meanwhile, there are big numbers of unforgettable activities in Ecuador that will make want to stay there more. Outdoor human activities like mountaineering and trekking could unexpectedly make you feel an adrenaline rush. Besides, people will not have any reason to worry because their supports and locks are very durable and applicable for shocking doings, remarking these adventurous sports as world class. The country’s intrinsic heritage of traditional clothing and highland public markets will surely bewitch the culture vultures.

Undisputedly, you would also be amazed when you tour the different places in Ecuador. When you travel from one place to another, the temperatures are smartly changing. There are varieties of climate that Ecuador has. In the Pacific coastal area, they have a tropical climate, meaning it is not that hot and it is not also that cold. On the other hand, the Andean highlands’ climate is temperate, or the changes between summer and winter would be indicatively mild, or rather, it could also be extreme in some places.

If you are mankind who loves things full of excitement and adventures, and at the same time loves surprises and places for relaxation, then Ecuador would be the excellent place for you when you retire. Who do not want to spend the rest of their life in a country that can give you euphoria, right? All people desire for it.

Been tired of thinking where retirees could go after their retirement? Where they could just lie down after the longest time of giving their heart and soul in their jobs? If I were them, I would undoubtedly choose one of the best countries to retire, and that angelic place is Ecuador. Ecuador is an option and will always be one to those who wants to satisfy their satisfactions.

The post Ecuador Best Retirement Places first appeared on 2026 Best Places To Retire.

Honduras, the second largest country in Central America, is a very vigorous nation full of fascinating gifts from above such as bright turquoise waters, beaches, jungles, high mountains, and thematic ruins. Every explorer will love the physical activities that they could perform here. The place is just the perfect venue for that kind of stuffs, where you could absolutely do energetic movements that will 100% stretch out those stiff muscles in your bodies.

Compound villages that could be found in the municipality of Comayagua, the dazzling Pacific and Caribbean coastlines, the great ages of Mayan ruins in Copan, and eco-parks in Moskitia are just a few of numerous beautiful attractions in Honduras that have fantastic beaches and reefs where eco-adventure activities like snorkel diving is unique by any standard.
Famous for enterprising outdoor sports, tourist cannot help trying almost everything. From the comparatively inexpensive scuba diving, to intense river rafting, and to very vivid mountain trekking, travelers are always ready to enter the risky world just to feel the opulent excitement that can make their bodies feel extraordinary adrenaline rush.

When it comes to the country’s over qualified for exporting handicrafts, Lenca ceramics and cotton sock manufacturing truly top Honduras’s list. It is a rule of thumb not to forget visiting the stunning El Mercado Guamilito where cheap handicrafts yet well-done are just everywhere, such as Lecan potteries and paintings, Nicaragua’s leather goods, and the pretty hand-woven cloths that could be bought in Guatemala.

The state also produces high degree jewelries, specially the silver product for the reason that they had a lengthy history in silver mining. Very creative paintings made by the Honduran artists are also what Honduras famous for. They usually used the colonial towns and their gorgeous landscapes as their inspiration in finishing their artworks. These breathtaking pieces are kept in Maymo Art Gallery, where interested visitors could do sightseeing all the time they want to.

As wonderful place as it may be, it is still important to be triple assured because dangerous happenings could not be avoided. It is still better to used one’s common sense, specifically during night. International travelers are commonly robbed in unstated time on the hazardous streets of Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. Violent crimes, such as robbery, gang violence, and even murders, were just common in almost all cities of Honduras. Fortunately, it is now not dangerous as before. The country’s government took actions regarding these matters because it undoubtedly affected the visit plans of tourists in their country. Now, it is safer to travel and people could more breathe easily. But still, always remember that if proper security and severe carefulness are always with each oneself, surely you could avoid having these awful experiences. Just always be aware of everything and do not ever forget to be super duper careful.

In thinking of the best countries and best place to live and retire, it is not just the place that matters, but it includes the comfort and safety of oneself. But come to think of it, everywhere, whether the place is fantastic or not, crimes could not be prevented. So a hundred percent assurance and carefulness may be also enough. Be smart and imaginative.

Belize is believed to have strong undefeatable Caribbean spirit, maybe for the reason that they have the Caribbean Sea on the east part. The country is located between the fantastic countries of Guatemala, on the west and south part, and of the hot Mexico, on the north part. Among the countries located in Central America, Belize is the only one without a coastline of Pacific Ocean.

Exceptional attractions like their vast jungles and the Caribbean Sea, where people could find one-of-a-kind species and where they could explore the breathtaking underwater life, are just some of their country’s attraction. As other countries near them could also offer, scuba diving, snorkeling, and deep sea fishing are also dig by people.

Rice, chicken, and beans are their usual foods in their country. For them to have a Belizean diet, they mixed up rice and beans with coconut rice and various spices to finish. Other mouthwatering Belizean dishes would make you ask for more because those are not just simply tasteful but rather extraordinary and new to our tongues.

Belikin Beer, Belikin Stout, Belikin Premium, and Lighthouse Lager are the kinds of Belikin, the national beer of Belize. These beers are widely available all over the country. But unlike other beers, the Belikin bottles are returnable, so be sure to be ready for some required deposits when you are taking your drinks. If you are craving for wines, there is no reason to be worry. Varieties of wines such as ginger wines, blackberry wines, and cashew wines are famous in whole Belize. On the other hand, for Belizeans to stay clean and healthy inside out, any packaged water is a must.

For people to stay connected to their loved ones everywhere inside the country, payphones, which accept pre-purchased phone cards, are good bacterias all over the country. While for the people who’s addicted in going on-line, internet cafes could be seen in urban areas, and unfortunately, just a few in rural places.

In a country where people struggles in their everyday living, it is somewhat beautiful to them that they can manage their natural resources to be take cared still. Actually, citizens of belize are one of the most relaxed people in the world. Why? For the reason that they have amazing islands, like the Caye Caulker and the Ambergris Caye, that will surely turn your stressed bodies to relaxed and refresh ones. Moreover, Belizeans are raised up learning to have respect in any kinds of people. Egalitarian citizens as they have, visitors enjoy casual conversation and chatting with them. In a wondrous country, respect for everyone is a must-have character indeed.

If you are a culture vulture and also a hunter of extraordinary experiences to have, Belize is an option and one of the best places to retire. Unique sightseeing and exceptional dishes to taste are just waiting for you. So what are you waiting for? Instead of just sitting and mimicking on the much polluted cities, reside to much cooler and better one.

The post Belize Best Places To Retire In The World first appeared on 2026 Best Places To Retire.
